it's some type of seatless yak/board with a storage compartment.  Since wife won't let me buy anymore yaks, maybe I can buy this and tell her I started surfing... although with landlord encounters these days, I don't know if I want to have my legs hanging out the sides...

These were the original dive board. Made by Viking was one brand. They became outdated in the 70's when Mallotte and Royak came on the scene. They were still in use when I bought my first sit on top in 1973 a Mallotte scout 2. I gave one of these to Dave W 2 years ago.

Some old pics. These are some guys I used to see at Ft Ross when in my early 20's I got these pics from the website that Tote put up. These things were not stable and you couldnt turn them for shit. I dont think you would want one. DaveW will probably let you test drive my old one though if you ask.
