Hi all,

Just did a run to Yreka and back to get a beautiful little shelter pup. Age unknown but all her baby teeth are out.

We just lost out beloved prankster of 9.5 years to cancer last month and I must say getting a dog from the pound was nice and I am surprised at how well behaved she is. She took to the car ride like a pro, and took to her new home very well. No bad habits, no chewing, no whining/barking, and no problems being left alone in the house. Still getting the hang of potty training, but she does let us know when it is time to go.

The reason I bring this up is because they have a cute little male boxer/hound mix still left. He has been there a while and was in great shape. They age him at approx. 10 months and he seemed to be about 20" at the withers (shoulder blades) so he is not too big. Probably weighs in at about 45 lbs. He will probably not get any bigger, just might fill in a little with a good diet. I did not play with him as it would have broken my heart to leave him there but I found the place through Petfinder.com. His name is Jaxx (generic name assigned by website). When you look at the photos of him, the cinder blocks in the background will give you a good comparison to judge his size. He does have beautiful eyes. Unfortunately, we were looking for a girl dog and unfortunately, we do not have room for a second dog. As I understand, they try to keep the dogs available as long as they can, but when there is no more room, thats it. The shelter staff was very helpful and great to deal with as well.

If anyone here is looking for a dog or knows someone who might be interested, please take a look at Jaxx. As I understand, in most cases they can adopt out for free, unless the dog/cat is intact in which case you pay a $40 deposit which you get back when/if you get the animal fixed.

I looked around at some local shelters here and they have alot of great animals too, but found what I was looking for out there. That's the way it works some times.

I'm throwing this out here just in case anyone might be looking for that special buddy.

Thanks for reading and good luck.

The second pic down shows the cinder blocks well in relation to his back and head.

Thanks again.
