Anyone know if the deans or any anchovies have made PP harbor their home yet?  Considering heading out that way soon to launch, catch some bait and fish.

I've seen a few people fishing by the HM office with no results. Saw some bait looking in the water from the railing about two months ago, but nothing since. No deans like last year.
But that was the inner harbor. Pretty much every saturday I've seen birds working hard some where in the harbor. Last saturday it was right in front of the yacht club, between the floats and the shore in shallow water. Pelicans and commerants in a frenzy for a good half hour. I sure the fish and birds were moving around in there all morning.

Good to know.  Have the sea lions returned?  Last time we went there at the begining of RF season there were no seals present and  did not meter any bait.

Now that you mention it, last year there was an extra ordinary amout of harbor seals out at the point where we surf. Large packs swimming around trying to scare us and so many they were rafting up. And I remember seeing a guy fishing getting robbed of his fish by one just outside of Mushroom Rock. (I believe it's closed there now) This year is pretty normal. Haven't seen too many big sea lions either.
Last saturday I was having a can a beer by the sink on the railing and watching the guys in the boats on the 1st row sell fish and abalone to the tourists. And watching Doug and Chris at HMB Kayaks, who were busy as hell. Then there's big commotion a couple floats over with the gulls. I didn't walk over there , but a guy he said it was a seal eating a 15lb halibut. Now that I think some more, that dude seemed like a local, so I asked him about all the chatter on the radio about the squid. He said they were from the Ritz to the harbor.
I forgot to tell you about that stuff I heard on the radio. There were guys jigging for squid with shrimp flies. And I heard a guy  come out of the harbor ask why were there 5 boats trolling off the beach. One guy answers that they did pretty good friday with the halibut. So the first guy asks him how many they caught. Then silence.

Another rumor--Just got off the phone with a customer. He said it's still a secret (he's a good bs'er), there's large wsb being caught a few miles out in 100 fow on squid. Makes sense since there's squid getting caught too.
He's taking a guy from OPS(oak) out in his pb tomorrow. That's where he got his intel. Since the wind just died down again outside 3 miles is easy on kayak. The hard part would be landing a 50lb fish.
