Went back to the scene of the Sunday Kook Yard Sale.  Mid-low tide rising slowly, overcast 500-ft ceiling, swell light (4-ft face max breakers), wind west about 8k produced a sideways drift.  This time, I brought my friend Dan.  He is a lifetime FW angler and a greenhorn kayaker.  I set him up in my WS 100 with the crate and all the junk while I push through in my now striped down OK Yahoo!.  On the water at 0630, on the spot at 0650 for what Dan calls "window shopping" in the kelp beds..  Dan stayed  in the big windows outside while I went inside for the small windows.  I only got one bite and landed an 18-inch brown RF at 0720.  This was my first keeper landed from a kayak.  Having a net and watching how Fishunter boated his SMC ling helped make securing the fish on the stringer pretty easy.  A sea lion was following me all morning, so I kept the brown on board.

Dan reported a couple big bites but no joy.  I think he was pulling the trigger too soon on a flattie.  Off the water at 0830 easy as you please.

Will do it again Sunday with a bit later start.  Photo#1=I'm the big one in front and Dan is carrying the rear of the WS-100.  Photo #2= Mr. Brown

Nice chunky Rockie!!

I would call him a Grassy...most of the Brown's I have caught around here are a lot lighter in color, but I 'aint no expert neither!!

Either way it is a NICE fish and good eats!!  YUMMY!!

WTG!!!!

Hope to see you OTW soon!!

I would call him a Grassy...

I'm sure you are right from what I since looked up.  Thanks for the heads up.  They got more brands of rockfish than I got memory cells left.

I hope to see all you guys OTW sometime soon.  Looking like we'll have a Westside flotilla this Sunday with two singles and a double... the madness continues to spread.
