I have used their fish ID link for some time now and only just today stumbled upon their index page.  The Cowcod blog is pointedly good.

Ya Gotta Love Dr Love!
He was my thesis advisor at UCSB, and is a really great guy who who knows a heck of a lot about fish. Plus he has a great sense of humor too. My dad reads his book "Probably more than you'd ever want to know about fishes of the Pacific coast" at least once a year, and then quotes it to me the rest of the time.
A lot of his data on rockfish is not what the fishing community wants to hear in southern california, unfortunately he seems to be spot on with his research down there. I read his stuff & it makes me even more protective of our fish populations here in central cali.

Pat,

Speaking of books from Dr. Love, you might also want to check out "The Rockfishes of the Northeast Pacific" by Love, Yoklavich, and Thorsteinson.  This is a great book with complete species profiles for every rockfish on the West Coast.  Complete with multiple amazing photos for each species.  This is a must read for anyone who wants to know more about rockfish.

Here's a link to Amazon for the book... it's not too expesive ~$17 for > 400 pgs.
