So after months of battling I think my yak might have to move out of the garage to make way for a car....  :smt010 It is not official yet but i need to start thinking of some way to securely lock up my yak outside.  I was thinking of building some kind of cover cause it obviously has to stay out of the sun but as far as keeping it safe from roving eyes and greedy theifs does anyone have any ideas to keep it locked down?  Somebody else in my situation must be out there!  What is the most secure way to lock up a kayak.  Oh by the way the kayak is a Hobie Pro so I have the opening for the peddles in the haul.  I just dont feel comfortable with a simple cable/padlock system.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There's another similar thread on this that was recently posted...use the search and you'll find it.

In short, however, I'd just use a thick motorcycle chain and run it through your Mirage drive hole if you don't want to use a cable.  I have this for our motorcycle & scooter: http://www.amazon.com/Kryptonite-York-Fahgettaboudit-Chain-Lock/dp/B000LPEXBQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1277959592&sr=8-3  Maybe invest in a ground anchor (I have this also: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LF903M/ref=oss_product ) and secure one end of the chain to that, then run the other thru the drive hole and lock it to something bigger than the drive hole.  Like maybe a bowling ball with a big eye bolt epoxied into one of the holes.  :smt002  A yak shed on top of it all would be even better...I wish I had room for one.

Dont keep the hatches on it, on anything removable, pro thieves know they will have to get replacements or sell as is without, since they want the quick sell. AND it guarantees you will have a dry hull when you pull into an inspection station.
I also have a honkin-big cable lock...
