The last of his tour for the year.

10:00 am the shop opens and I was told he'd be there then.

http://www.westernsportshop.com/index.html

~~ bring your own reels, he has all the tools and parts for repairing, carbon drag upgrades, and general maintainence.
~~ You do the work, he charges for the parts used. it's being held in the Western Sports Tackle Shop. ~~ They have alot of FlyFishing stuff, but also carry the basic saltwater stuff too.
~~ convert that old reel into a +2010 edition and learn how to keep them clean and singing.

I have done this for three salty seasons now, and have never suffered any gear failure.

if something is bitting, and the WX are right at the Rod&Gun Club it would be nice.

otherwise it's a 10:00am start.

Alan has done some great work on my rigs in the past.  The man has "the way" with reels.

:smt012 Dang it...I have a saltwater reel that needs some Tani TLC but I'm camping/fishing at Bear River lake this weekend...

BTW, Alan is a god when it comes to fixing reels, so if you can make it & have the need it's definitely worth the trip!

Cool deal.  I've got some reels needing a some "Tani love".  Some early morning fishing near the Rod & Gun Club might be fun too.

I brought a couple of my abused Ebay reels to tune up and thanks to Alan they're now silky smooth with new carbon drag discs, cleaned guts and freshly greased bearings.  Of course it's always a good time hanging with the NCKA bro's, Adam (FisHunter), Ben (Guitarzan) and ChuckE.

Many thanks to Western Sports for hosting this event and Alan for his tools, invaluable expertise and parts.

Ditto that!

I upgrade the drags on all of my reels straight out of the box.  Stock drags are junk.  Do yourself a big favor and attend the next seminar (whenever that might be).  There's nothing worse than losing the fish of lifetime due a sticky drag.
