My father-in-law approached me a few months back and said he wanted to kayak fish on Father's Day and told me to make it happen.  Wanting to go big, I decided to make a weekend of it at Lake Mendocino however after finding out that 3 kayaks for 2 days would cost more than $500, we decided to keep it simple.

So instead we'll be at Del Valle this Sunday, 6/20.  I'll be with a fairly good sized flotilla, including my father, father-in-law, father-in-law's brother, brother-in-law, boss, and buddy.  Sadly, my father and buddy will be in a skiff but the other 5 of us will be on yaks.

Come join us if you like; we'll either be targeting trout or stripers.   I'll be waiting in line when the gates open at 6 a.m. and a couple of us will have radios tuned to ch. 69.

Dude...  I would have rented you three yaks + gear for half that.

Or a case of Sierra Nevada.

Michael, I can't believe you planned on renting kayaks? All you had to do was ask your bros from NCKA  :smt011 You should have known better  :smt018.....bad man :spank

Yeah Michael!  I got 2 un-used yaks most weekends!  If you want to take another outback (or two depending on where I fish Sat) just let me know!

Much thanks gentlemen!  Just as I was getting ready to take several of you up on your terrific offers, I find out that most of the guys now want to rent a pontoon boat.  It'll basically be my father-in-law and myself on my two yaks and everybody else on a pb. :smt011   That's ok, we'll show 'em how it's done. :smt044

Maybe next year I'll take advantage of the fantastic offers and actually do Mendo for the weekend.

Look forward to seeing you out there Pat.  Will you have a VHF?  I'll be on ch. 69.

Frank wouldn't tell me where it's at, and rightfully so, so I'll be looking for you. :smt044  What time do you think you'll arrive?

I may see if I can play the fathers day card with the wife. AND I need to bag 3-4 more AOTY species. So I need to follow you to the cove.....I will raise you on 69 if I make it.

If not, good luck!

Hope to see you out there Eric.  If you get out, your wife is one heck of a woman

I have a couple things up my sleeve but we'll see if everything goes according to plan.
