totally cool story!
In 1993 I found a Pentax SLR camera during a tidal fluctuation On Admiralty Island AK. My friend & I were canoeing and had to wait for a waterfall to fill and so killed a couple hours on a little island in the middle of nowhere. I found the camera in its bag, bobbing on the shore.
I never did develop the film in it, and it took me a few hours to realize that it was waterproof and worked perfectly. There were only about 50 people living on the town of Angoon & no one claimed it so I gave it to my Dad for father's day. He still uses it today.
I always wish I'd had the 5-10 photos on the film developed.
