Bought a new bow last week and my cousin took me out on his boat. We fished from 6:30pm to 5 am. Shot at 100s of fish but I stuck 4 fish myself. It was a great time. Cant wait to go again. Might try from the kayak someday.

We saw some huuuge bass, lots of small ones and tons of panfish as well.

We only shoot carp if you were wondering

Jeff

Man that brings up some fond memories of me & my dad!  We used to shoot carp at the Los Banos wildlife refuge.  At the time, our archery club "King's Mtn Bowhunters" sponsored shoots there.  Wading in waist high water, or from the banks, sighting the fish, then having the water just explode as it got hit with arrow!   At the end of the shoots, most of the ime the fish didn't go to waste, as there was always familys fishing the sloughs that gladly took the fish.

Glad to hear someone else has interest in the sport as well. Wish we would have found someone to take the fish afterwards. But not many people at the boat ramp at 5 am on Thursday morning. I am sure if we were on the delta there would have been more people to offer the fish to.

Fun report!
I have an older PSE Nova that I want to convert to carper. Looks like your cousin has the AMS setup. Does he like it? Could you compare it to the Zebco rig on yours? The price of the AMS package has kept me from shooting.
I hear that a person can shoot lots of times and yet only connect a small percentage of the time.
I guess I'd toss the carcasses to the buzzards in my neighborhood. I toss rockcod carcasses to them and they're gone in a day. They took care of a pig carcass in less than a week. Nature's recycling crew!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I dont care for the Zebco reel much. You have to press the cast buttomn for each shot and if you don't. Ouch! The AMS reel is only around $50-60 and the AMS Wave rest is only around $30 so its not too bad. I bought my PSE bow for $109 brand new from Jerry's Archery in Stocton. We are planing on going back out Sunday night so I will hopefully have a better report!

The bow I used to use, was a 3 piece "back packer"  can't recall the brand, (was close to 30 yrs ago now) the reel I used was a zebco,I used it for a few outtings  then I got a open face "Drum" (for lack of knowing the proper name of it) It was about the size of a coffee can and I had wind the string back on manually.  I liked it allot better than the zebco.
Once you figure out that the fish is actually not where it appears to be when you shoot, you'll learn to compensate and move your aim DOWN just a little.   I didn't have polarized sun glasses back then, and I'm sure they would have helped immensely.

Great shooting there Jeff. BTW, how much compensation do you have to adjust before firing your
arrow on the fish? I guess it depends on your angle to the water.
