I had the pleasure of fishing for the first time with NCKA brother Ernest aka Lucky13 at SWS yesterday.  I met Ernest at Quarry Lakes a few days earlier when he and his son were test driving their brand new Hobie Revo. We agreed to put a trip together on Memorial Day.  I've met Ernest on a previous trip to SWS and happy to find out we only live a few miles apart.  He was gracious enough to do the driving.

We were on the water by about 8:30AM and started fishing inside the cove without much luck.  We tried moving outside the cove but the swells and wind made it clear it was not a good option.

So back inside the cove we went.  It was a slow pick the entire day.  We would hit holes in between the kelp to catch a few and move again.  We called it quits at 2PM, I ended with up with 9 rockies and Ernest with a couple.  They are perfect pan frying size for dinner tonight!

Thanks for showing me how it's done Mel. The fishing was nothing like it was on the opener day. I think SWS gets a lot of pressure from both kayak and spear fishermen. I was pretty much given up, but Mel refused to let me go home empty handed. He set me up with his bass jig cause that's what the fish wanted yesterday. Caught a couple doing exactly what Mel was doing. Oh, I did manage to catch a 14.5" cab. That was the first fish of the day. Thanks for everything Mel.
