I am planning on launching at New Brighton State beach on Friday, weather permitting.  If the weather continues to be wet I won't go.  I should be there about 7:00.  I will be in a green Malibu 2 XL.  I would like some company out on the water, so let me know if anyone wants to meet up and fish.

The gate doesn't open until 8am. You can get there at 7 but you will just have to wait an hour.

I thought the rangers don't like you fishing within a certain distance of the State beach. This time of year people seem to have luck with stripers close in. They are likely to bend your ear going out - and coming in ?? Might be best to launch from Capitola and be hard of hearing if they yell at you from the beach. :smt002

Launch at cap wharf, park up the hill above the tracks (free).
No need in paying $8 at NB, it's just a short paddle over there.

I plan on hitting cap at least once over the wknd.
good luck

Capitola fishing report

Launched at Capitola wharf about 8:00 and made my way over to the Soquel reef.  I caught one Brown rock fish after fishing about 30 mins on a swim bait that I was jigging.  I saw one bait ball.  I left about 12:00 when the wind came up.
