My brother in law visited today so we gave a go at Rossmor on the American River. On the water by 3pm.

First time taking my x-13 on thee river. I really enjoyed it. Using an anchor trolley rules too. The water release is uber fast though... sticking the anchor sucked.

Only 2 fish for me. The wind and fast current was no fun. So we pulled the plug. Forgot how much fun these fish are!!

Great report!  Way to hit it - I'd love to paddle an X-13.   :smt001

Thanks for the report. I was smacking the shad same time last year. Lots of water this year though.
I've got an X-13 for the salt, I use my Quest in the sweetwater. I wish I could make a baby from the two for a dreamboat...
What, if any, dislikes? I think it likes to ride wet. The scuppers are hard to plug and make leakproof. Same thing for the front well, I wish I could plug it too. I've got a cork in there now, but water still gets in. Do you have better luck with this?
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I got mine little over a year ago and didn't get the front live well set-up. I stuffed pool noodles in under the rims from front to rear of the boat and use the front hatch for storage. I also stuffed 2 liter bottles into open spaces. It stays super dry inside though, even when water breaks over the bow. I haven't tried to plug the suppers yet. It rode super well up river in 5000 cfs (almost 6000 yesterday)... I was loving that. It was also very stable. I use to do that in an inflatable an it sucked.

Nice job on the shad, I haven't been after them in a few years but that gives me some motivation to get on 'em!
