Met up with Insane Duane this morning at 7 to launch on the incoming tide.
Word up, Don't do this.
Anyway, after what seemed to be hours of fighting the incoming tide I got to where I wanted to be, in amongst several private boaters and party boats, I finally got to drop my bait. The tide was moving so quickly that I was soon out of the zone. I could tell because near me were two Boston Whalers that both had fish on and were able to zoom back for another drift easily. After several drifts one of the Whaler guys asked how I was doing and let on that they had caught three halibut in their several drifts. I mightily paddled back up through the swiftly moving tide about three times. Nothing. So I let myself drift back along the Rock Wall and back to the launch. ARW-1 Me-0
But I do have to thank Duane for his contribution, live bait. thanks Duane.

BTDT, I haven't done much halibut fishing but I have done ARW on a good tide.  On the upside as I understand it halibut fishing is best on small tides.

Good on you for getting out.

cool, we'll see what Paradise produces tomorrow, I like to throw my light weight anchor and let is drag in the sand in the big tides that usually produces a nice slower drift, Keith at Loch Lomond says people have been hooking up on the big tides while anchored so...?
