Nothing doin' out at Caspar today. Wind was fine, water was a bit chunky. Sarah and I fished for a few hours and managed one black (hers) for all our efforts. It was really nice to get back out there. I hope all the guys further up north have better luck. We wish we were up there with them! I may try to run back out for a quick hail-mary before the drive back. Can't wait for the waters a bit closer to home to open up.

Thanks for the current report. We're planning on hitting Russian Gulch tomorrow. It sounds flatter then too. I heard the water is below 50 degrees, maybe that is making the bite a tough one.

Hey guys, what were you targeting? I am going to Russian Gulch Memorial Day weekend. Gonna be ab diving, maybe some freedive spearfishing. Should I bring crab hoops and salmon gear? Any dungeness? What is a good bait shop in Mendo I can get chovies?
Thanks,
Will

EDIT- I just realized boat based angling is open for rockfish!!! I am too used to the sonoma coast. Would definatly like to know a good bait shop. You guys have luck with squid up there?

My roommate and I had a similar experience out there saturday.  Kept a small copper and a greenling but otherwise only caught a few small blacks and 2 underlings.  Were you fishing inside the cove or up north?  Met another yak guy there who had two nice cabs.
