I too wanted to go to the crabfest, but too far for me. The weather looked sweet for bassin' though, so I make it to the lake late friday afternoon. The campground right at the entrance to the State Park were opened up and I had it to myself, bathrooms, showers and all. Sweet, things are shaping up nicely.
Not to be though. I caught fish right off the bat near the launch, it was too windy on the outside, I even had a couple grabs on the frog, but the whole next day was slowwwww. It was that way for the pb's too. I only managed 4 grabs and landed only one fish for the whole day. Once again, most of the  attention right in the evening.
Today, sunday, I fished the channel between the road and the campground first thing in the morning. I wanted something all to myself,, and I did, until a pair of NCKA brethren paddled up. Craig, Jim, and John on the outside somewhere. I told them I had zippo to show for my efforts, it was pretty slow for them too, though Jim managed one before we parted ways. I took a break and headed for the north end of the lake for what I was starting to suspect an evening bite. It was so! Not great,, but I found them and figured them out. They were very tight into trees, I even hooked one as soon as the senko hit the water near a branch. I started hooking fish at 6 PM.
All in all, I was surprised the fish weren't on a better bite, considering the conditions.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

That lake should be "on fire" anytime now as the weather warming up!  Thanks for the report and pictures Juan.
