Heading up to Whiskeytown Lake to do some kayak fishing. This will be my first time doing the freshwater fishing. Any tips and information will be greatly appreciated. I will be targeting any species that swims in that lake.

Alot of secluded coves out there. Caught some good size trout out there with a small kastmaster.

Kokanee bite is on there, try near the dam and the 299 bridge areas. Also the area around Carr powerhouse. Kastmasters (silver), spinners, and spoons should produce on the troll.

If weather is good and I don't work those days I may head up there.

Good luck Fred if I don't see you up there :smt002

Let us know how you did :smt002

We camp there every year.  Go to the pumphouse or prior to the pumphouse and park it on the right side of the lake.  If you get there early in the morning or late afternoon you will see them jumping all over the place.
this is me 2 years ago at that lake.
