That's a big sunfish!  My buddy got one like that once in Whiskey Slough on a crankbait.  I think the Delta is about the only place a sunfish can get that large.  No wonder the bass out there get so big....

I'm going to have to say that's a very, very nice Bluegill.

Green Sunfish are more of a piscivore than Bluegill, and thus are more elongated for speed, and have a mouth more designed for "inhaling" prey, rather than picking it at it. I've caught one on a 2/0 hair popper meant for good sized largemouth. The sunfish was all of maybe 8-9 inches long. Here's a good picture of one:



Red Ear Sunfish look almost exactly like Bluegill, with the addition of a red "tag" at the rear of the "ear":


So yeah, that is a trophy Bluegill. I'd be more tickled at catching that fish than a six pound bass..
