Met Earnest [Lucky 13] and Nate, his son, at the ARW about 8:00. Launched in flat and calm water that became pretty windy/choppy by one. Nate saw the only action of the day with something biting off half his bait.

I was looking at SF and chuckling at the irony of driving a hundred miles from the country to fish in the city.  :smt002

Sorry for the skunk Ben.  You'll have much better chance to catch them next month as they just started to show up in the bay early this month.  I have good lucks at Paradise last year so you might give it a try.  Thanks for the report and pictures.

Nice try Ben! I bet your bait was chomped in half by a halibut with those scissor teeth that they have!

Fishing the bay trips me out too. Sometimes on a dark morning the brightest thing around is one of those giant flat screen type bill boards that flash to a different add every ten seconds. Wierd place to fish but super fun too. I love seeing all the cars trying to get across the bridge when I'm out fishing. :smt003

Sorry we couldn't stay longer. My kid had enough paddling. I don't know, I think I'm gonna give up on halibut. 0-12 is pretty sad. I think I need to regain some confidence by catching myself some rock fish when the season opens. Thanks for the pix. Didn't realize you took one.

btw, when paddling back, I was talking to AlamedaMike in a blue T120. While talking, we saw a pair of seals feasting on a good size striper not far from the main channel.

Well it sure was a skunk, but alas it was a beautiful day on the water. It was a pleasure meeting you Earnest and your son. Hope to see you again soon..

I could've written that for my steelhead and perch expeditions this year!   :smt005

Nice report, Guys - there's lots of value in the hookup and the OTW therapy.

Well, ya.  :smt002

But, actually, that's why I like kayak fishing so much. It's pretty much a no-loose deal. Even w/o fish there is the paddling/scenery. And in the case of NCKA, the opportunity to meet some really nice people.

So I'm pretty content with my skunk... for now...  :smt003
