hey Growler.......if CL was your kayak-fishing-cherry-bust'r ????
you better get some REAL_Safety Equipment, some more TIME and EXPERIENCE on freshwater.
Your toes just got wet, dont jump in the "deep end of the pool"(the bay) just yet.
i'm VERY SERIOUS and you'll also hear it from the rest of the group.

Group?   :smt009

I agree on the safety equipment.  Another good advice (one of hundreds) I got from NCKA was actually knowing how to use your radio (knowing the coast guard's channel, how to call for help).

As for getting more time in freshwater, I guess you can't go wrong with more time in freshwater.  When I got started last year in yak fishing, I bought SinCoast's T140 and we were off to Stillwater one hour later.  I WILL SAY THAT I TOOK A PADDLING/SAFETY CLASS BEFOREHAND to learn self-rescue, surf conditions, etc.

Whether your next outing is fresh or salt, make sure you have some NCKA brothers around to fish with.  You'll need someone to take your picture when you perform your self-rescue technique  :smt044
Take my 2 cents with a grain of salt-as  I'm still a newbie. I really respect the fishing and yak advice I've gotten from all the experienced guys on this site. can't tell you how many times the advice has saved me time, money and from making mistakes the hard way.

Weather looks decent for Paradise on Saturday.

I'll more than likely be there.

Uggghhh....looks like crappy tides, though.

you said the magic words =  learn and LEGENDS  :smt002
~now if the tide is moving fast, the halibuts tend to NOT BITE. where as if the tide was moving less(meaning not more than a 2-3 foot change from hightide to lowtide) would be the BEST CHANCES for your bait or lure to bee seen and chased by a 'butt.
do you understand so far?,,,,,,,,there has been 'butts landed in a dirty-flushing lowtide, but the better chance is when the water is clear and the tide is not pushing the bait too fast past their eyes. They are a "sight" predator.

~fast moving tide means fast moving kayak.
