Headed to berry early this mornin to do some turkey hunting but decided to bring the yak and poles just incase! Glad i did! Busted a Major strike out on the Turks as I blew a 2 hour Game of Cat and Mouse with Big Toms! These Birds Are Smart! Damn Bird was sittin behind a tree just like i was, keeping an eye out for ol hunter! And he won this time! Spooked them both at 10yds!....so changed the quarry and launched from oak shores day use area around 10:00 and headed straight out to the big island. not after a 15min after dropping down, Bam! Fish on!...Fish immediately jumps straight out of water after hooking and the battle begins....This fish does numerous bull dog runs straight down before a land him 2mins later! A lovely battle and a nice 15in koke! Continue trolling completely around big island with no other bites from kokes! A lot of floating algae in the water right now! Gave up on kokes and drop shotted for bass a bit with 1 and only1 hook up! A nice chunky 3lber(lmb)! Called it quits at 2:30 and paddled in! Forgot the camera in truck so most pics were after a i got back to launch! Wish i wouldve gotten more especially from this morning and the hunt! It was another awesome day at berry! Weather was perfect and nearly no wind all day! A few more weeks and Berry will be WIDE open. Cant wait to get back out there!

Kudos on the grocery shopping trip.  Head out for one thing for dinner, and go with what is on sale, love it.

thanks for sharing the great reports and pics!  I went out on Saturday afternoon for a few hours but could not handle floating algae everywhere!  Only saw one bass jump but no other signs of fish.  Got some excercise and got the heck out of there.   There was a huge tour bus in the parking lot at Oak Shores, how he got that thing in and out of there I have no idea?  It was a huge group of Koreans out at the park there and the bus driver was cranking Korean music in his bus.  Just what I was not looking for when I go out to get away for a few hours!  Water seemed rather cold still so don't think we are quite in our prime attack time zone yet, but very soon!

there is no size limit on kokes but i really wouldnt keep any koke or king under 14in unless its a bleeder at berry. The salmon there get much bigger and rather fill my limit with better grade fish! Plus, anything under 14in there is most likely a 2 year old fish and rather let that fish get bigger for next year! I dont see the water being cold a problem for kokes at all. But that algae i think is messing up the bite a bit!
