Hey Chuck! Hope you are well. I have been putting together ideas for an Eagle Lake tournament. Wondering if you think it might work. Everyone would be fishing for the same fish as Eagle Lake trout are the only thing there. The lake has lots of access points and many "hot" spots. I am thinking we could combine it with some other sports like shooting and archery.
My property gate is 12 miles north of the lake. People could camp there free of charge or at one of the campsites next to the lake. We can set up a shooting range for both guns and bows. Could throw in some geo-caching, hiking, clay pigeons, whatever. No worry about disturbing the neighbors.
Think it might fly?

Dog that would be awsome. Ive fished that lake every October for the last 6 years and it is by far my favorite fishing destination. Knowing how crazy the wind can get there im just curious when you might have it.

This would be awesome.   It's rare I get to escape for such things anymore, but if it jived with my calendar I'd be there in a second.  Love that lake and that area.

I just finally got onto the property last weekend because of the continuing storms. Now that I can get in, I will be there at least two weekends a month. I am always there for five days around Memorial Day (too early) and Labor Day.
It seems to me that if we could get a couple sponsors on-board with some support, we could get a pretty good audience. It is a bit of a drive but I see people have been driving way up the coast too. Not many places any more where we can fish, shoot and party hardy without handing over the wallet.

Blast and cast sounds good. Haven't done that for awhile. So what month are we talking? It is a long drive. Are dogs allowed in boats?

Eagle Lake season opens on the Memorial Day weekend and runs to the end of the year. The fishing does not get "hot" until fall.
We have people hunting antelope on the property in August and deer hunting during the end of October through the first couple of weeks of November. November weather is pretty iffy. It can be great or it can be "tow truck" weather.
That being said, I would say our best window for fish and unlimited use of the property would be September.

I am pretty sure that there are no restrictions on dogs in boats on Eagle Lake. And as for the property, all dogs all welcome as long as they are manageable. During our habitat restoration weekends, our record dog count is 19. From lap dogs to great Danes.
