On Friday (Feb20) I went on a guided drift boat trip. The water was perfect for kayaking and I took some notes on all the holes, bait, gear and behavior of the other 15 boats that were out.

Can anyone tell me why there are not more of you out there?

I know it is a bummer that there are not more fish in the river but, it is legal to keep 2 per day of hatchery fish, there are some fish being caught over 2 ft, and the drift from Healdsburg to Forestville would be a great kayak trip itself.

So I am looking for others who want to team up and drop a car off in Forestville and then drive up to Healdsburg to drop in the river. I can take one or two more kayaks on my car if needed. It would take about 5-8 hours for the drift depending on how fast you want to go.

So lets get some good food and beers together and go for a good day on the river. We could even have a nice Steelhead at that end of the day!

I am free on most any weekends.

Cheers,

J

We will be there when the fishing picks up. That's a great drift but it's a bit of a circus on the weekends this morning I counted 27 trailers in the Mem Beach lot and some guys drop their trailers at steelhead before drifting plus lots of canoes row boats float tubes etc.
Nice Shot of Redwood hole

Did you see any fish???
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
