Launched around 7 am with makinitcount to b-e-a-tiful conditions. Headed straight to the narrows with two different colored grubs in tow. Trolled up and down the narrows numerous town without a hit. Not many boats on the water, and wasn't marking very many fish. We trolled a back cove we saw a lot of surfacing fish. I put a White Rooster Tail and threw it on my down rigger at 15 feet down. When I came up on a flat in 30 foot of water, the downrigger popped, fish on. Right away I knew it wasn't a trout. It felt like a bass, but turned out to be a 15 1/5" chunky chunky crappie. CPR'd her and kept fishing. That was it for action.

We headed over to try the trout pond, but noticed the sign said car top boats 6' to 12' wtf! We fished from shore for a it and saw a nice fish caught, 6+ lber. Did that for about 30 min and then called it a day.

Water temp is almost 55 degrees, trout must be moving down, hopefully the bass will be moving up soon!

Jeff

Mouth is not closed. No good for AOTY measurement. Ben you should know that. I am surprised.

Nice fish Jeff. Way to keep off the skunk.

mouth only matters when you're really in AOTY though, other than that the 1/2" fluff is good to count  :smt001

Nice crappie Jeff. I've only been there once long time ago for camping. I wished I had
the kayak then. Thanks for the report and pictures.

The bendo was from the downrigger, not from the fish, the fish put up a weak fight. I would have kept it but I figured it was a momma full of eggs

Congrats on the very nice sized Crappie...and thanks for the CP&R, I wish I read more posts with a happy ending for the fish and the fisherman.  I have yet to try that lake, let me know when we can hook up and you can give me a tour.

I did notice there is day use access RIGHT by the narrows so I am wondering if you can park and launch right there. There is some good bassin' spots and GREAT structure. We will have to get out, I'll show you the spots and you can show me how to bass fish a little better.
