i had a daiwa 8' surf rod that broke twice, once at the tip, i simply glued on another tip, then later the top half broke while in the rod holder on my pb.  i called daiwa, talked to Sergio, and he sent me a new similiar one, the previous model had been discontinued.
props to daiwa for their good customer service!
