Wow, nice work!  Have you ever tried that style of hook?  It would be intresting to see how well they worked.  Well a utility version anyways, I would hate to loose one of the ones you posted.

i swear i remember a story about someone forgot their tackle and had to McGyver a setup with a safety pin and a sparkplug? and landed a couple lings? or something?  it's kinda gray right now.
....from the looks of those, i think the pressure alone, would hold a big fish.
They DO look cool, and maybe you could swing a deal with "Corporate" to whittle up some for AOTY Big Species Award

I am humbled. Thanks for all the kind words. If I have power at my house tonight I'll post up some more of my recent pieces.
You all have inspired me to build up a handmade hook & land a fish with it this summer.

Cool stuff Sean. Over the summer I made a Hawaiian hook from some bone. It was cool but man you can't imagine the smell when you grind bone in the garage.

Yep, actually I can imagine it quite well! When you figure that bone is basically like hair, only bigger, it's not pleasant. Hawaiian style hooks require a lot of grinding too! I like the Pacific NW halibut hooks because they are mostly wood :smt003
