Launched at Memorial Beach at first light after watching a few fish work the ladder giving me  high hopes. Pushed down river past the bank fishers who had nothing positive to report. My shuttle/fishing partner was awol so I went  solo.

The river is gin clear and very shallow so I spent most of the day following a baited float as I figured it was the only way to present a bait prior to me scattering any possible fish. I was the first down river so I had all the holes that were unoccupied to myself. I really enjoyed the drift and got quite a workout as I back paddled most of the day...quite the opposite of how we would normally fish if there was more water. In the attached picture you can see my float in the one o'clock position nearing the sunken trees.

All in All it was a beautiful day and I soaked it all in. I made no plans for a shuttle back up to Hlbg. after my drift but a couple cool dudes in a canoe offered me a ride back up after their paddle to Forestville. I guess the banana peel on the deck of my boat (in the attached picture) probably didn't help the fishing but my tummy was glad I brought it along. Bring On The Rain.....

Drifting downstream w/o a ride - that's an adventure in itself.   :smt001

nice shot and an "A" for effort!
?~on a normal drift, is it kinda protected from the wind?
i need to cut that big hole into my kayak, so i can go down that river, before it gets too much like a river.

I drifted Guerneville to Monte Rio with no fish caught either.  I saw two in the shallows a few hundred yards above the Monte Rio bridge, however nothing else seen or reports of fish caught.

Somebody told me drift boats were stacked up THICK on Friday, however on Saturday there were very few boats around and he claimed the fish had moved upriver.

Some tweaker stole the tail light off my locked bicycle at Mote Rio.  I lock up a bicycle at the takeout point, switch the lock over to my boat, stash my anchor, paddles and pfd in the bushes, and ride back to my car with rods and other gear in my backpack.

Thanks for the report Allen I fished up above for a few with the same result. Saw some fish moving but they were too spooky.
