well..2010 started off where 2009 finished for me.. skunked on the Delta..
after reading Opies report I was all fired up yesterday.. I was thinking that my experience at the Big Break area must had been a fluke.

sadly nope..zippo. damn ....I have a new Cabela's rod that I have been dying to test its action on a surging striper..

Met up with HobieDave and Jedmo...(first time to meet jedmo..thanks for coming out).
I arrived a little late at 930. I caught up to the guys bringing mudsuckers.
I also deployed a swim bait which I thought  for sure was going to produce today.

It remained cold throughout most of the day.
I kept thinking...Summer - mo betta..
still, the water was mostly flat with very little wind / current so it was still an enjoyable day to be on the water.

We did witness a sea lion devour a fish nearby in the channel.. we had thoughts of stealing from him for a change.

HobisDave and Jedmo left the water earlier than me..around 2ish.. I just couldn't pull myself away since I figured that I may not have much water time for remainder of month.
Got a call from Hobiedave and apparently they were waiting for me so I sped back to enjoy a brew by the marina..
Of course for those of you who have had the  pleasure fishing with the guy..he is always prepared with the smoked fish + brew. (martin...don't let work get in the way of your home brewing)
So we enjoyed some fellowship and checked out his newly built trailer.
so overall, not too bad of a day when you hang out with good folks.

Fish or as it was no fish, it's great hanging with you guys. We did miss Martin though. Jed gifted me many unused super sized minnows. Left overs from Sonny and his CL trip. Minnows are wanting to venture forth, into a larger body of water Monday. Are you getting this Martin. Have trailer, will travel. dave...

Thanks for the carpool Dave. Love the easy launch off your new trailer. You really
did an awesome job on it.  It was nice to finally fish with you daviator.
Would have been super cool to catch fish though but that is winter
fishing for you. I only caught one fish. A 16" striper that chose the mudsucker over the jumbo minnows. Thanks again daviator for the mudsuckers. I'll get you next time. Dave, thanks also for the chicken sandwhich and the beer.

cool report, way to get out.

jed how were you able to keep the minnows alive that long?  hasnt it been like 2 weeks since your CL trip?  do you have a tank or did you keep them alive in a bucket?

Actually Ben, those minnows I had had been on three trips now. It will be 4th come Monday. The minnows were from CL. I'm sure if they were regular minnows
they would not have survived this long. I kept them in one of my old coolers with good
aerator.

Great report guys.  Dave's new trailer looks too good for real use.  Nice job on the build!   Wish I could have made the trip.  I look forward to fishing with you guys soon.
