Last year I bought my FL at Longs and I really wasn't paying attn and when I got home they didn't charge me for my 2 rod stamp.
I just got back from Wally World and same thing he doesn't charge me for the 2 rod stamp, so this year I'm sorta paying attn so I tell him that he didn't charge me and he cops an attitude and says that he knows what he is doing and sold over a 100 today and it is included in the $41.50 so I said whatever swipe my card and start to leave he is training another guy on how to sell them, so I show him my license where the prices are and say you charged me $41.50 right and $6.30 for the Steelie Stamp right then filp it over and you charge me for this $12.85 righttttt, Ha you shoulda seen his face. Our system sucks it needs to be computerized pretty ridiculous that you have to fill out your info 3 or 4 times.

Any way they had these cool Salmon ID fold up cards that fit in your wallet, they should have had these years ago. I'm going to keep a couple and hand them out when I see somebody with an illegal fish or they look like they might need one.

Those are cool ID cards Mike.  Might be a good idea if they made it mandatory to have one stapled to every steelhead card they issue too.

Were you asked to pay for the second tag after all that? The store will make him pay for the mistake, I'm sure.

You can get your license on line now quickly and easily through the F&G website.

http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/ols/intro.html

No more waiting in line and dealing with surly know-littles at Longs or Wally World.

After purchase you print up your temporary and the real deal shows up in the mail around five days later. Second rod stamp available for the price but any other stamps or report cards have to be purchased elsewhere.

Another plus is the Bay-Delta stamp is no longer required. I guess they got tired of all the flak they got from not using the money for it's intended purpose.

Ya I think so too I guess next year it will be up and running, do you think you will be able to print up the Cards just like the License for immediate use?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I'm actually surprised you can get the license on line now. It's taken CA DFG way too long to step into the computer age as it is.

You should get a lifetime license and avoid most of the hassle. Pay for all of the license fees once. You get your steelhead and salmon report cards with the license every year.

Cool, by the way, I heard that for a limited time you can submit your steelhead card info online, so if you have not mailed your 09 card in yet you might be able to save yourself a stamp.  The details should be on the dfg website.

I dropped my Sturgeon report card in the box at my local bait shop.  No stamp needed!
