Saw "After Armageddon" in the History Channel.  (it's a similar show to "Life after People" - also from the History Channel)

VERY EYE OPPENNING!!!! MUST SEE!!! :smt045 :smt045 :smt045

It's regarding a global disaster (pandemic) scenario narrated by some experts from survivalists, scientists, ect...

IMO: City folks will definitely suffer the most if such a tragic event ever happens. What really freaked me out was that inner City gangs just basically come out of the woodwork and take over the streets with their weapons. And even if you tried to move away from the city to protect your family and survive, some small towns will keep outsiders away (with guns) simply to protect and preserve their way of living (basically, keeping the bad apples away).

A quote form the show "a farmer would have more value over a successful stock broker"

I would vote for Les Stroud too.

Some facts about Bear Grylls' show:

Bear Grylls and the crew receive support when they are in potentially life threatening situations, as required by health and safety regulations.
On some occasions, situations are presented to Bear so he can demonstrate survival techniques.

I enjoyed Life after People, but it was almost too CGI to take seriously.

I totally dug Les Stroud's show. I can't wait to check out "Off the Grid" when I can get it on DVD (I'm "off the cable grid")

I not only liked Les' style, but the real reason I prefer his show is that he's unassuming enough that my wife likes the show so I don't have to watch it alone. I think she likes the way he says "aboot". Darn Canadians.

We're always rooting for him to find food though. Him catching Arctic Char was awesome.

I finally saw the final episode in Paupa New Guinea, where he tries betel nut on an empty stomach & gets high. Classic.

Anyone see Richard Proenneke  in "Alone in the wilderness"? It's a documentary on his day to day experiences living off the land. I highly recomend this show  :smt045 :smt045 :smt045 Very old school!!!

Eric, why read the book when you can sit on a warm zebra skinned couch, stick one hand in your crotch and hold a Mikes Hard Lemonade (or a smirnoff ice) on the other and watch it on the tube???
