  Hey all,

I'm wondering what areas around the Portland area (Hillsboro & surrounding area) are the better neighbor hoods to be in?  What areas should I avoid?  I realize that everywhere has it's "slums" or high crime areas.  I know where those areas are here locally, but no idea of what they are in Oregon.  Maybe those areas are small, few and far between.  That's fine I just want to know where they are.

most of Hillsboro itself isn't all that bad. But quite a ways from downtown, so I only drive through it if I'm fishing Hagg Lake. Its close proximity to Intel, Nike, and other big business keeps it fairly clean.  If anything, I'd say keep more to the eastern part towards 185th...

Check with the NWKA guys, there's a few members IN Hillsburrito that can tell you more.

I spent most of my life in Portland... listen to the guy who said to stay clear of EastSide... anyplace near downtown, say 30 blocks or in on the west or eastside is nice. good neighborhoods, etc... Beaverton is nice, but very much a suburb, Hillsboro is a bit outside of town, but not a bad place. If you are looking for a place a not right in town checkout Sherwood, or Newberg... very nice little towns, good schools, wine country.

All in all, Portland is a great city. My first choice would be Hawthorne area of downtown, then someplace in the close in on the Westside. I truly miss Portland, and envy you moving there.

Go Blazers.
