My son invited me on a PB trip to New Melones.  We fished Angels Arm (no water in Angeles Creek) for trout or bass.  The Glory Hole fish report said trout were only being caught from the bank with Power Bait, near the launch ramps where the trout plants are made.  I couldn’t bring myself to do that.  From the PB, I tried minnows, swim baits, and small Rapalas with no luck.  The kid finally picked up a nice spotted bass, 2.2 pounds on a plastic worm.  I tried the same rig and landed a 2.1 pound spot.  That was my only fish but the kid picked up a 12 pound limit with the big fish at 2.5 pounds.   We put them all back for the next trip.
The water temp was 54.  The air temp was about the same with little wind in the afternoon.  Glory Hole and Tuttletown are still the only ramps open.  The Angeles area would be Challenging to get to on a yak.  The water level is down 125 ft.  I am going to try and get the yak up again in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the report.  Any bass in the cold is a good bass.
