FYI, I just received a confirmation that, besides not being allowed to bring in minnows to use at lakes like Del Valle, Quarry, and other lakes in the park system, trapping your own bait in those lakes is also not allowed.

I understand that you aren't supposed to bring in minnows, but I wonder why you can't trap your own?  Maybe because they're concerned that the traps will harbor mussels?

The response I got was that "young gamefish are most likely to be caught in these traps. These young gamefish cannot legally be killed or used for bait." If minnows are considered a gamefish, that's a new one on me.
