had a couple of hrs and fished incoming tide from the end of the pier.  looking for sturgeon.  saw some jumping at the bridge but they weren't hungry!  the regulars said a couple of sturgies caught last weekend.  two by the same guy!  must get out there on my yak... :smt005

You're a brave man!  It's freezing out there today!  Thanks for the report Andy.

Andy,

I live close to Dumbarton. Just post a hook up and I will join you if schedule coincides.

That spot looks like a pretty short paddle to some good sturgeon water, post that hookup.

Nice try Andy. I can't wait for another sleigh ride before the year ends.

I use that bridge everyday. Both shores are pretty much a mud flat for a quarter mile. The only time the water comes close to the road is during high tide, but then you're only 2-4 inches of water for quite a distance. Let us know where the secret launch spot is ;)

i can't make it out anytime soon due to work! :smt013

what i have gathered is that there is no launching at the fitzgerald preserve.  basically right under neath the bridge is off limits.  I got tagged by a ranger for carrying a kayak back from a trip out.  there is a launch way back in the sloughs but that isn't too convenient.

the nearest bay launch that i know of is in palo alto.

last year boaters caught sturgeon straight out into the bay from the launch.

good luck to those who want to try it.

andy.

I've launched there (Palo Alto) many times. You need to time the tides a bit. At low tide you are basically in 2 ft of water in what amounts to a small stream. It would be a long paddle to the bridge. Straight out may be doable but there is always wind and with my luck I'd be fighting it both ways.
