went out this morning to find gorgeous conditions. unlike last tues..no wind but slack water so the drift was minimal.

picked up mudsuckers but not happy for $2 a pop.
tried to make some of my own bait along the tullies with small worms but no love there..

I desperately wanted to secure the mudsuckers onto my rigs since I had only 3.. I used a tidbit of a rubber band betwn the mudsucker and after the hook barb.
I went as far as to fasten a  rubberband harness thru the volunteer's gill but removed it after seeing he was not too lively.

the slow drifts made me wish that I had installed my new fish finder.
I hooked up  with 5 in around 12 ft of water.
good fights but the hits were sporadic.

still waiting for the lunker..but only managed to find stripers in the 20-21 inch range.

practiced my filet skills.. plan to serve the fish for our holiday brunch this coming weekend.
happy thx giving everyone

Nice work on the linesides, dave. Smaller ones are better eating, anyway. Live bait seems to be the ticket right now. Try a little piece of raw shrimp to catch mudsuckers. Not sure how abundant they are in the delta, though.

Are you going again on Friday or Saturday? I would love to hook up with you. I have had really bad luck with live bait in the delta maybe i can see what I am doing wrong.

Way to go Dave: You're quite the provider. Not only that, you are also doing your part to save lots of salmon smolts. Hope I'm there next time you go harvesting. My turn to buy the suckers. dave...
