I just bought my first fishfinder and I want to install it so I can use it for the weekend. I noticed that some of your guys added a fuse to your connection. Is this a must add and if so what size fuse should I use???

Thanks guys!!

You dont have to add a fuse but the instruction say to so I did.  I think its a 1 or 2 amp fuse, it should say in the manual.  Just get a little in line fuse holder from radio shack, $2.00 bucks or something.  Why not have a little extra protection? Keep your electronics from gettin fryed.  :smt006

You should, I've experienced electronics go dead when it could mean your life.  Like a few years ago tuna fishing 25 miles offshore our marine radio's fuse gave out and we did not have an extra one.  My Eagle Cuda manual clearly states that you void your warranty if the provided fuse is not connected.

Use a Inline blade fuse style like the one below its pretty water and moisture resistant. You can get it for about $3.50 and a pack of fuse $4.00 for 5 of them at your local automotive store. Note: make sure you load up the connections with dialectic grease and shrink tube the spice connection to your wire. I typically use 2amp I know on my Humminbird it calls for 3amp but it works fine without any problem.
