On Sunday (11-8) i went to the delta by Brannan island in our freinds 24 foot Party barge for Striper.  Not much time for a report, but all and all the Striper are there.  With four people on the boat we caught a total of about 20, 4 of them large enough to keep.  They were really trying to figure the boat out for their first time,  so there was alot more figuring out the new boat then fishing. We used fresh dead shad with about 1 oz. weight.

If you launch at the Brannan island launch and go right to the main river, and continue straight out and about 50 yards up there is a sand bar out in the middle at about 12-14 feet. we anchored there and casted down where it drops off to about 22 feet.  We ran around with the fish finder and we found the fish came right up that sand bar.

sorry no pics, just keep forgeting i have the camera.

Mike

Great report, thanks for sharing!  Sounds like a good shake down cruise for the boat and some good to great fishing as a bonus.

I know just the sand bar you anchored at.  It is an active spot.  Great to hear a positive report, hope the big boys start coming further up to the Old Sac.

GoshDarnGoodInfo!!....Thanks for rehashing the details of your trip. If you were to read about hunting striper in the delta, the first things they point out are:
~look for current = reads like there should have been some circling around that sandbar you found.

~look for change,IE: = the depth from sand bar to 20+'

keep up the soild work on the details and your a good man for sharring them! :smt002
