I need to install some sort of handles on my Malibu Two so that I can lift it by my self.  I was wondering if anyone has a decent solution for this situation?

In the past, I have used the nylon strap that went across the center to lift the loaded up yak short distances.  Not to my surprise, this strap finally broke, actually the head on the rivet securing the strap busted.  I temporarily put two straps crosswise one front of the center seat and one just behind the center to lift the boat.  This made it very easy to lift, but I know that the strap eyes that I attached to will soon break if I keep using them.  Ideally I would like to be able to lift the yak with something similar to the two crosswise straps.  Any ideas?

Did you get another kayak or paint yours?

Hi Al,

Thanks for the link on the handles.  I think you mentioned that you had a Malibu Two, do you have those handles on your's?

That is the same kayak that I have had.  I finally took it out this weekend and washed it off, so it looks clean and new.  Also, I touched up the paint over the winter.  Between a new baby and a new job, I haven't had much time to get out.  I keep watching your posts and plan to hit the Sac soon when the salmon are stacked.  I hope to see you out there

I wish my Malibu two had them. Thought about installing handles, but it doesn't get used enough. I should sell it.

My Prowler does. They work great.

Still a little early for the salmon. Hope to see you when they get here.

A set of knee straps work great as handles to tote your kayak around.  You can also use them as shoulder straps.
