I'm thinking about contacting the Plumas Sheriffs Dept to clarify their law regarding navigation lights.  Before I do, I would like to talk to someone knowledgeable about the Coast Guard laws and how they are implemented in different localities.

If anyone can steer me toward a contact I'd appreciate it.

One of my classmates was a CG JAG (or whatever the JAG equivalent is in CG.)  She lived aboard a boat and her wardrobe always smelled of diesel fumes, kind of fitting as she was really into maritime law.  I'll try and dig up her contact.

Check the phone book for any auxillary units near you.  They usually are the ones that give safety boating inspections and or courses.
