Yeah, one memorable day my poop told me.  Big old pad thai-looking thing in there, and I hadn't been eating any noodles.  I think most days there would be no sign, unless you're in a lab and know what you're doing. 

If you see something in there that looks like it doesn't belong, disposable chopsticks might work better than toothpicks. 

If it was the salmon, the worm was there for months.  The only symptom was my digestion had slowly gotten a little more delicate.  I thought it was just work stress.
