I will be in Socal this week and plan to rent a kayak and fish there after some meetings Friday.    I will fish from about noon till 5pm.    I have never been there and would appreciate any pointers -  where to rent yaks, where to fish, what to use, what fish are there, etc.    Any bonitos down there?   Any insights much appreciated.

PAL's site has some info you might find useful:

Also, you may wish to contact the folks at Hook1 - this is their backyard.

Fished DP last month and did ok with croaker off the jetty and corvina in the surf. Bring your striper stuff and work the area around the bait receiver with clousers. Full sink for halis and floating or sink tip for bass. 6-9 wt should be fine. PM me after Thanksgiving when you want to install your FF and congrats on your new family addition.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!   Called down there, spoke to Tim, got my yak waiting for me down there, read the posts, etc.

Scott -  thanks for the pointers on croaker, corvina and stripers.   Fly rod is packed and ready to go.    Thanks for the congrats on my new daugher.   I opened a sporting goods catalogue and she has already picked out a fly rod.   She is definitely a keeper!  I'll PM you later on the FF.
