Again it has been a while since I posted a report from a foreign land , but as we have just had a meet on the South coast of England , I thought I would make the effort and let you know how things were going on the other side of the pond .
Ladram Bay is between Sidmouth and Exmouth in the fair county of Devon .

I set off early [ 0410 ] and after a long but smooth drive down arrived at Ladram bay at 0840 . The first thing I saw was steve [ lureman ] setting up in the field . I stopped for a quick chat , then drove down to book in before setting up my bivvy in the next pitch .
We were soon set up and gagging to get out on the water , it was a beautiful day and we didn't want to waste a moment of it .
Firstly we tried towing lures and feathers , I fluked a mackerel after 10 min and hereby claim first fish of the meet ;D .
We also managed a few small pollack over the rough ground to the west , before paddling out to deeper water to try for mackerel . There were plenty of them out there and we decided to fill our boots , in case any late arrivals wanted to go out in the evening and wanted some bait.

We tackled the long haul up the hill :o and drove back up to the camp field . Richi was in the car park , soapnsuds were all set up next to myself and steve with john and helen the next ones up . The Welsh contingent had set up in the middle of the field . These were the only flat pieces of ground on the field !

Later in the evening myself , steve and amos [ hungryfisherman ] went out in search of conger . We were not successful , but it was a lovely evening to be out on the water .
We got back to the field , greeted late arrivals and had a few beers before turning in ready for a new day .
Some were far more keen to get out and were up at dawn . Lesser mortals made there way down to the beach late morning . Somebody suggested seal launches :o Richi , Craig and Steve went first , then it was my turn :P

Mid-morning we set off again .
I paddled west and anchored up , my shoulder muscle was aching from the previous day and I wanted to give it a rest .
Before leaving John gave a demonstration on how to cast from a kayak in a field :-/

After a few hours anchored up with little to show for my efforts I paddled over to Starvin and Steve and we slowly made our way back towards Ladram . Fishing with lures and fly .

Did you spot the fish ? :D
Back at the beach people were trying out the X techsport . This would be a great yak for freshwater fishing up rivers and stuff .

t was mayhem at the bottom of the ramp as people psyched themselves up for the big pull . Amos used his car , but could be excused as he had just burst a blood vessel in his eye and had a nose bleed . :(

Back at the camp field people showered , started BBQ's and cracked a few beers ready for the evening auction . It was all for the local lifeboat and the tickets soon sold out .
John was master of ceremonies and the banter and ribbing was all good natured . It was a fun evening and a credit to the AA yaking community .

Next day was the SOT course . I went off in search of mackerel and garfish on the fly rod .
Despite feeding slivers of fish into the water all day I never even saw a garfish !
It was another beautiful day to be out on the water and I stayed out until evening .

It was a great meet with spot on weather . The company was terrific and it was good to meet friends old and new . Roll on next year ;D

Loved the report, pictures, and video as always TM. I wonder how far Phil(Northern Boy) lives away from you. That would be awesome if you two meet
someday and kayak fish together.

I was actually going to go to this but had a work shindig on the Saturday night. I'm sure we'll get together next summer. It looks like the spirit of kayak fishing is universal! Although they drink more here.
