And to add a little information for you all. If you dont eat a little meat, either animal or fish or shellfish you wind up with weak bones when you get old.
while an very low fat 80% vegaterian diet is good for you you still meed to eat low fat animal flesh of around 10% of your diet to maintain a healthy body for your entire life.

And Bambi is very tasty!!!!!!

I salute your hunting like a real man (with a bow) and getting it done. Bravo!
Sets a great example for others to decide if they are truly men and hunters or something less of the citified techno-crutch kind of half-men who let technology make up for their lack of manhood, b*alls, and skill..

I will never kill any mammal (except a varmint) with a firearm. It demeans me and them. We need to be as appreciative of the life we take as of the life we live. Without that what are we really?

Nice troll and hijack, Marmot! But if you hunt to prove your manliness with any weapon, high or low tech, please stop!

We "hunters" don't hunt to prove our machismo. People that need to prove their machismo are the same idiots selling White Supremacist/Nazi crap at gun shows.

I hunt for food, with as clean of a kill as I can, I respect the game and the hunt. A quick, clean , humane kill honors the animal.Modern archery techniques and today's high powered rifles accomplish that goal. Anything less bring dishonor and is cruel. Hunting and fishing brings me closer to God, and makes me appreciate all he has created for us.  I love to archery hunt, it awakens all my senses, extends my season, and makes me change my tactics for hunting, but given the choice of tools, I'm grabbing the rifle. Although I have a Black Widow custom takedown recurve and several other bows, I would much rather fling arrows with my Bow Tech. I have $2k+ invested in my Bowtech bow, sights, carbon arrows, broadheads... and I think it is easier to harvest a buck with my bow during archery season than rifle season.

Acts 10:13 A voice told him, "Get up, Peter! Kill these animals, and eat them."

Ok since this went from a little show and tell to a right, wrong, morals , good ,bad, your stand or mine etc.... I guess I should state my position. I was raised to eat my pets basicaly Lambs calf chickens. I even tried vegetarian( not healthy for me). I love the outdoors. I love seeing the animals and being with them and yes so far even the bait steeling seals. Oh and the skunk in my yard that nailed me full on when I came down the drive way on my bike.
But I also believe god put some of theses animals on earth to eat. I hunt with a long bow and wooden arrows all hand made by friends as well as my bowtech tomkat.I hunt every other yr in Co. For elk with my muzzle loader there again I use an in line as well as a cap and ball. I also have numerous other modern fire arms . My lever 30-30 has harvested more animals than any other gun I own.I like the hunt as well as the harvest. I age and process all my meat my self, from steaks roast ground meat to sausage. At least 90% of my meat is wild. Then end result is I may start out with a primitive weapon but I am there to fill my freezer for the winter and feed my family the healthiest foods possible.
If you can do it with a primitive weapon more power to you , but what maters the most is a clean humane kill and respect for the animal.
Also you want to check out real macho sh*t look up #69 vikings Jared Allen spear hunting bull elk.I haven't even been able to get one with a bow.
Thats the moose i walked up to in co. last year archery elk season.

Your a brave guy!!! You may have insulted more people than you realize. :smt012
I feal sorry for people like you who have never been blessed with the harvest of one of gods animals.

Their is ABSOLUTELY nothing macho about hunting with a firearm modern or not.
but if you Surfer had any Idea what hunting was REALY about, you would realize how IGNORANT!!!! your insults are. :smt013

I am amazed That Brian hasnt deleted this whole thread. What was supposed to be a little post about someones joy over getting some venison for himself and his family has turned into a negative discourse on weapon of choice. Marmot you jacked this thread with your opinon like I have seen many other times on the site lately. Leave your comments at the door when you enter someones post. This starts a frenzy of different responses and the original writer is left feeling hollow and disappointed. There is a lot of disparity and anger of opinions lately and I for one am sick of it.

I've got 5 CA deer points and I'm probably going to burn them and go on a archery hunt in X6a next year... three buddies went three for three this year during bow season... 1 forkie, 1 3x4, and 1 4x5... that ain't too shabby for bowhunt'n.

Hears a pick of my spike camp when I'm backpacking/bowhunting... have since changed packs to a Badlands pack, but that Mountainsmith served me well.
