Wife's setting me up for a guided fishing trip on Lake Tahoe for Wed 16th.  I don't know the name of the guide or where we're leaving from yet, (Shes up there now, I'll be joining tomorrow) but this will be my first "Guided" fishing trip! :smt003 I'll have my camera and take lots of shots. (Specially if I land some fish!) I'm kinda looking forward to this fishing trip.

My "mini" honeymoon I took the wife out with Blue Ribbon Charters and Gene St. Denis.  Had 4 macks (4-7 lbs) to the boat by 9am.  Bummed we didn't target other fish but oh well, it allowed us to do other things.  We took our fish back to the hotel and had it cooked for dinner - it was yummy.  My wife, who won't touch fish, even enjoyed it.

Hope you have a super trip Troy.  Special woman setting that up for you.  I had to set up my own.

Michael

Cool trip! I've done two trips on Tahoe. Once i went out with Don's guide service we fished in front of Emerald bay and caught mack and koks.  The koks were really tasty! We launched out of the keys. The next time i went out with Mickey's guide service, caught macks. We fished off kings beach and launched out of carnelian bay. Both trips we had a few rods out for rainbows but those rods never got touched. Both trips the macks were caught on live minnows, and the koks were caught on a spoon tipped with corn. Goodluck on your trip!

Looking forward to hearing about this!   Ive also been on two guided trips in tahoe.. actually they were six pak charters.  Once by myself and once my wife came along.. great fishing and a blast both times.    The time I went by myself was in winter and an amazing trip.. snow all around on the shore and mountains, but the day ended up beautiful and actually shirtsleeve weather.

Im hoping to haul the yaks up there maybe in spring and see if I cant find some good fishing.  Bro in law lives up there but he doesn't fish.

I headed out on "Tahoe Sportfishing" out of Ski-Run.  It was an afternoon trip, typically slower than the morning run.  We headed across the lake ( to I think Sand dollar point?) and fished maks.  The bite was definitely off.  We left the marina about 1:20pm and I landed the first fish at 3:30! It was a 4 hr trip.  First fish went maybe 3.5lbs, my second fish came about 30 minutes later, it was much smaller.  There were 5 of us fishing, and only one other guy landed 1 fish.  Mooching a minnow, below 120'  I have pictures, just not out of the camera yet.  I'll post them later today.

I fish with Tahoe Sportfishing every February and have great luck. I think the bite is better at that time but it is a little colder :smt111

From what I hear the AM bite is the better time. One of the guides also told me the kok bite is best right at first light. On that trip we did hook koks right at first light and then switched over to macs. 8 people on the boat and everyone caught between 1 and 3 fish. I went on this trip in the middle of july. We also tagged and released some fish. The guide kept a log book on all his tagged fish, I guess he has caught the same tagged fish on the same day in the same location 5 years later and the fish had only gained 2 pounds. Not too much for the macks to eat in the lake.
