I'm interested to hear from anyone who has fished Shelter Cove recently. Interested in any advice for catching Calif halibuts.

I've heard a little over the years on that subject.  Tried drifting some bait over the sandy shole between Deadman's and the ramp, but it's shallow and seaweedy.  It's likely similar to other halibut fishing - need to put in the time and get a little lucky.

Nice to meet you at Trinidad the other day.   :smt001

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

I was skunked for halibut on Friday the 4th.  Finally put in a rod with sabiki hooks from the rocks on shore and got a legal greenling.
