I don't see too many kayak safety flags in the Santa Cruz area. Does anyone think that they  are a worthwhile addition?  I kinda worry about being run down by a sailboat what with it's restricted field of vision.

@ the Ablion gig on a ruff day, i had a PB guy tell me back on shore that my flag, scull and crossbones(Raider Nation) Baby!!! stood out and he could see me much better, it was sunday/or mon?...really choppy and a bit of fog...I think I might add a orange glow flag below my raider flag... :smt004

When your down in the bottom of a large swell and there's a lot of PB/sailboat action going on couldn't hurt... :smt001

and if u thing about PB's vs sail...guys reaching into his cooler yaking with his buddy it's foggy ummmm... :smt003

I admit freely I didn't fly the flag for safety reasons... :smt044 :smt044 :smt044
It's all about Today!!! Because who knows what tomorrow will bring... so Better get OTW n GetSome

I've got one just so the idiots may see me and maybe avoid hitting me when they come to look.  Mine has NCKA on it (checked with administration for use) so that the colors also fly.  Most of the time it hasn't been too busy, but just in case!!!!!

I'm gonna put a flag on for the added visibility - I think it helps. The plan is to use a fluorescent color and mylar so it has a chance of reflecting radar. Personally, it's not sailboats I'm concerned with, but the @#*%s in PBs who don't know how to adjust their trim tabs.

Nathans green kayak dissappears even without swell, so he has an orange flag.  Especially near harbors.  My boat is orange, my jacket red, my PFD yellow.  When I hear a suspect boat, I start waving my yellow/orange paddles in the air.

I like the idea of a flag.I was thinking of installing one of those toddler bike flags from Toys-R-us
Seems like it would help out on the bay with all the PBs and unattentive sailboats
