Just got back from Eureka. The fishing up there is anything but good; about a half-fish per boat average.
In two days on a 4-pack fishing in 200' of water I managed a 12 and a 16#er. Those were the only salmon on the boat.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!

Hey there, I'm in Arcata and fish around here regularly.  Haven't done rockfish out of Trinindad but would like to try.  Some buddies have been getting some big lings just off the Trinidad pier this week, and I heard the salmon guys did well today, but way out and deep.  I usually fish the lagoons, or the beaches for perch, or the jetty.   But I'm up for whatever.  Probably gonna go camp out and fish Trinity Lake this weekend... All welcome!

North of the 40-10 line near Cape Mendocino we're open for rockfish and lingcod until 9/15.

It can be tough fishing out of Trinidad, but there's big potential too.  Post a hookup if you're headed there because there are several people here who would try to make it before the season ends.

This isn't about Trinidad;never fished there.
But since you guys are from around Humboldt I thought I'd like to share this.
Last Thurs. I fished on the Sea Weasel for Halibut. After we got limits, on the way into the harbor, we pulled in about 200 yds. south of the jaws and fished live anchovies on light (10-17# pound rods,Sedona 2500 reels,#1 Owner hooks,1 oz. wt.) in 14-20' of water.
The action was fast and non-stop for quality 5-8# Blacks and a 16# Ling caught by my friend.
Drop to the bottom, reel up 3 turns, jig it a little and WHAM.
I'm itching to try that on a yak.....soon.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!

Hey, this is very tempting, since my wife and I are spending the weekend in Trinidad. However, I just booked the last spot on a salmon boat for tomorrow morning, so I'll have to pass. Good luck out there and let us know how you do!
