Talked to my brother who lives in Auburn Lakes Trail, the fire was on the other side of the gorge headed up to Grass Valley. Six homes were lost in less than 30 minutes. They say they have it contained but if the winds picked up again things can go south real quick!

I bought gasoline at the Arco at Dry Creek and 49 around noon today. No smoke that I could see, so I'm thinking the fire was fully contained at that time. The open lot(s) across from Quartz Drive was burned but good.

We didn't even realize there was a fire yesterday afternoon, until my wife was turned back by the CHP at Lone Star while trying to head into town around 6:00 PM. No sign of smoke what so ever, and we're just 5-6 miles away from the fire.

How the hell are these fires starting all over the state?  Arson? I heard how one was started by pot growers, but now there are what 8 fires burning?  We just saw on our local news (eariler today) video of a blaze just starting in southern CA!  Our own Bonny Doone (Lockeed) fire, still haven't heard how it started.

Last I heard they think the 49 fire was started by a PGE pole, maybe a blown transformer.

We have plenty of areas in Placer County that need to burn (safely). Some areas are choked with Manzanita and Digger Pines.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?
