I use one on my Nissan Frontier when I haul the P13.
Be careful going over curbs and speed bumps.

Harbor Frt sells a shorter one at a good price.
I bought one of those too for around $29 on sale

Thats pretty cool.. I carry three yaks when I go out with the wife and daughter but that looks like it would be great for just tossing mine in the truck to go fishing.   My rack is on top of the cab and it can be a pita to get things up there.

Yep. Use one on my F150. Long hauls I flip it top side down so the hull doesn't oil can. For quick trips I keep it upright and fully rigged (minus the rods). Simple as can be. But yes, you gotta go slow over ditches and transiting up hills. No big deal if it drags. I just run one of my wheelez straps through the tank well scupper and add two bungess from the handles to the tie downs in the bed (so it doesn't shift).

Love the simplicity after a long day OTW

I made one a few years back but sold it when I sold my truck.
I angled the bar to avoid the curb scrapes as Al described and made it so it could be easily stored.

I went down to harbor freight today and got one of these.   I don't have the padding on it yet.. (try finding a pool noodle this time of year.. lol.  maybe I can use pipe insulation.)   My Manta ray 14 only sticks about 2 ft off the back and seems pretty strong.   Working on different ways of strapping it down now.   I think I even have a set of lights for a small trailer around somewhere I can rig to it, tho I dont think the tail lights are blocked.   I may even be able to put all 3 of our boats on this thing for short trips.    Only thing Im leery about is tying the nose end of the boat into the truck bed via the carry strap.   Maybe that would be tied loose and just as a safety.

Any rate.. should be much easier and faster for me at least when I im on my own vs. getting that thing up on top of the cab.

When I carry three in my pickup, I run a rope thru the scupper holes, tie them all down with one rope, and a strap over the top to keep em from shifting too much.

I don't have the padding on it yet..

The padding shown in my photo didn't last long. I found the kayak slides up easier without it.

Yea. I used noodles as well and they tear and actually make it harder. I had some old outdoor carpet from my PB I just covered the cross bar and secured it with some zip ties. Now it slides nice and easy

carpet sounds like a good idea.    Do you think the extender is strong enough for 3 boats?   My wife and daughter have 13 foot neckys and Im thinking it would be much easier to take them all in the bed for short trips.

Yep I've sat on mine and I'm 200lbs. Considering you'll only have part of the boats weight on the T you'll be fine
