Went out with cpkayak and trolled from the rip-rap cove by the brickyard to rat rock.  I had two hits by the brickyard, and cp picked up a little shaker almost to the point.  No more action til I got one on the cast at rat rock.   Another little dink, but better than another skunk!  Weather was beautiful, as was the bay.  Great time, good workout, nice to try something different.

"lucky not to get skunked" out around San Quentin last night.  Retrieving the Almighty Xrap fast near one of the channel posts I got a massive grab and had a 2-3 minute fight near the boat before a keeper unhooked himself.  I usually take off the front treble hook but I'm starting to wonder about the wisdom of it if I actually want to boat my fish!  Might reinstate those when things are slow . . .

Anyway, I know I'm technically skunked at this point, but a very large smelt -- this time I would swear 16" honest to the tape if not longer -- saves the day.  I thought it was a half-decent striper for a minute there.

This was the falling tide and the first time there for me.  It looks like good water!
